Summer weddings for 2012

It has been a really busy summer, and the hot, sunny weather did create some challenges. It was awesome not to have to deal with Mosquitos, but keeping the irrigation going was challenging. Inspite of the weather, the garden did alright. It could have been better. It was alittle too hot in July and it was difficult to keep the flowers looking fresh for the Farmers Market. Here are some of the wedding flowers I did this summer.

Spring/summer

Spring is here, and summer is just around the corner. If it wasn't for the frost warnings this last week, I would say summer is here. I have been very busy planting and seeding all the flowers for my garden. Some of the seeded flowers, like the zinnias, have just started to peek through the soil. Hopefully they won't freeze tonite. I can impossibly cover up my whole garden, so I will just have to take a chance. If things freeze, I will have to reseed what I can, and some plants such as the asters I cannot replace. The lisianthus is somewhat frost tolerant, as are the snapdragons, rudbeckia, sweet peas, larkspur, bells of Ireland, calendula, sunflowers, queen Ann's lace, and gladiolas. The statice, zinnias, asters, and dahlias, are not so tolerant of frost, so time will tell what happens tonite.
